March Eclipse Season 2016

We are about to enter an eclipse season throughout March.
Eclipses occur in a series, falling on the new moon and the full moon.  This month we have a solar eclipse at 18° of Pisces on March 8th followed by a lunar eclipse at 3° of Libra on March 23rd.

The eclipses are connected through the axis they occur in (two opposing signs on the zodiac wheel). The first one this month occurs in the Virgo/Pisces axis.  This is close in degree to the solar eclipse that occurred on Sept 13th, 2015 at 20° of Virgo, and also connected to the solar eclipse in Pisces on March 20th, 2015.

Thinking back to those time periods can give us an idea of the particular events and lessons that will be presented starting at the beginning of this month.  Eclipses mark beginnings and endings; they can present situations (or people) who abruptly enter or leave our lives.   Every new moon we experience marks the beginning of a new cycle.  In some ways, a solar eclipse is an extra potent new moon.  New beginnings pair with endings- we need to release the old to welcome the new.  This month may highlight to us where in our lives we need to let go in order to bring in fresh energy.  Pisces in particular teaches us to surrender and trust the wisdom of the universe, to trust that we are not separate from the source.    The solar eclipse on March 8th is exactly opposite Jupiter- one of the things Jupiter is known for is expansion! It makes everything bigger- this could be a big message for you if it directly connected to a planet in your chart. It could also lead us to overindulge (in old ways of thinking, operating, substances, etc). Watch the tendency to reach for a quick feel-good fix to get you through.

The lunar eclipse on March 23rd is the sixth and final in the Aries/Libra cycle which began in October 2013, with the most recent one on September 27th, 2015. We can think back to those times and remember what was coming up then.  This is the end of that cycle, there may be something that comes up that needs to be completed.   Lunar eclipses are like extra potent full moons, which highlight the energies that are present at the time.  The Aries/Libra axis deals with self/other- we may notice this one the most in our relationships.

To better understand how this might show up in your life, you can check the area of your chart that these eclipses will occur.  Locate the house that contains either 18° Pisces or 3° Libra- this will show you the area of your life you are most likely to be processing these energies. If you have any planets within 16-20° of mutable signs they will be affected by the solar eclipse, and planets within 1-5° of cardinal signs will be affected by the lunar eclipse.

Eclipses tend to be felt on a very subtle level and affect our internal processes.  In any case, it’s a good month to tap in to what is happening within or around you.   We can ask to receive guidance to support us through this fast moving energy.

Blessings for your journey this cycle!
